Overview
This course intends to explore aspects that are relevant to professional fashion and product photography, such as deliberate accent creation and control of artificial light. The focus will be on the intent of the photographer in using these skills to emphasize or hide aspects of the objects at hand. The course will allow students to experience first-hand challenges that they would encounter professionally through class shoots, demonstrations, and critique of students’ assignments. Students will develop the fluency and the knowledge necessary to determine the application of skills required for each given situation as it relates to real world fashion or product photography, be it in advertising or editorial fields. Students will work with models, stylists, and make-up artists both in class shoots and on their own. Various aspects of fashion and beauty lighting will be explored as well as historic and current trends in the fashion world.
